My home page

I am just a Dad trying to reduce the amount of plastic my family uses.

But I’m not sure how much support I will get from them! And I don’t want to judge other family’s use of plastics. Do what is right for you. Maybe you will be inspired by me (or not…if we end up fighting too much)!

My Goals

What I’ll Do

First: Work on myself!

I don’t want to be the “do what I say, not what I do” dad. I know change starts with me. I want to lead by example and start to make changes that reduce my dependency on plastics. But it is hard to feel like the odd-man-out in your own home. So let’s see which family member will join me in this journey. But I will not be pressured by my family, no more SUP for me!

Second: Keep Tara Happy. Happy Wife = Happy Life!

I don’t want to force change on my wife. It is not the path to a good marriage. My wife is a creature of habit who despises sponges and loves paper towels. So I have to be careful how to bring her along this journey. But after 16 years of marriage, I think I know some products that will be low hanging fruits. There are others I have seen she will not touch.

Third: Push the envelope…a bit!

Change wont happen by itself. So someone has to be the one to push the envelope and see how it affects the family. It’s not like they can’t handle this…we already gave up zip-lock bags for reusable snack bags and have jumped on the reusable shopping bag bandwagon. But how much more can they handle without hating me and being embarrassed by me?

“I think he can make this fun”

  • One Year of Family Feuds and new resolutions
